As a Mechanical Design Engineer in Tesla's Seating Engineering Department, you'll be responsible for design engineering from concept to end of life, as well as problem-solving for existing products. You'll work on seating commodities including structures, mechanisms, actuators, cushions, wire harnesses, controllers, sensors, software, and trims. The role involves conceptualizing, designing, engineering, and managing Seating System parts and products, with a primary focus on structural components.
You'll be part of Tesla's Vehicle Engineering team, contributing your expertise while also embracing a polymath approach. Key responsibilities include problem understanding and definition, concept generation and evaluation, product strategy and architecture planning, and balancing various product attributes such as safety, functionality, comfort, aesthetics, cost, mass, schedule, and sustainability.
The role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience, with a demonstrated interest in multidisciplinary engineering. You should have hands-on experience building things and be skilled in hand-sketching. Automotive engineering with seating experience is preferred but not mandatory.
