Tesla, a leading innovator in electric vehicles and sustainable energy, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Autopilot and Electronics Product Design team. This role focuses on developing antenna and wireless modules for the Tesla Semi, contributing to various connectivity features from cellular connectivity for infotainment to phone keys.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of mechanical engineering and RF technology in the automotive industry. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading the mechanical design of different antenna and connectivity modules, working closely with antenna and RF Engineers on system architecture and implementations.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical design with at least 5 years of experience, along with expertise in CAD software (preferably CATIA) and finite element analysis tools. You'll be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept through to mass production, including prototype builds, testing, and validation.

Key responsibilities include optimizing vehicle components for performance, design, and integration, conducting mechanical design analysis, and generating detailed 3D models and technical documentation. You'll also support engineering test plans and collaborate with suppliers on manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities For Mechanical Design Engineer, Semi Antenna

  • Work closely with antenna and RF Engineers on system architecture and develop implementations
  • Optimize components in the vehicle considering performance, design, integration, size, mass, and assembly
  • Participate in prototype builds, component fabrication, testing and validation efforts
  • Model and design mechanical components and assemblies including plastic, sheet metal, die cast
  • Conduct mechanical design analysis including structural, tolerance, FEA
  • Generate detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation using CATIA
  • Support development of engineering and reliability test plans
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding DFM feedback and support tooling and assembly

Requirements For Mechanical Design Engineer, Semi Antenna

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Experience in the development of antenna / RF modules
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA preferred)
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS preferred)
  • Experience taking designs from initial concept through to mass production
  • Basic understanding of electrical and thermal design fundamentals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
