Tesla is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Fasteners and Joint Analysis for their Semi truck division. This role combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience in mechanical joining technologies. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in fastener engineering and 2D/3D design, with expertise in torque calculations and joint analysis. You'll be working at Tesla's Fremont facility, contributing to the development and optimization of mechanical joints for Tesla's innovative electric vehicles. Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer, Fasteners and Joint Analysis, Tesla Semi
- Work with responsible design groups for designing joints, and torque/load calculations
- Responsible for creating, designing, validating and analyzing each joint on Tesla products
- Lead and assist production in all quality and process related torque/clamp load topics and issues
- Project management: implementing correct torque value for both in house and Tier assembled joints
- Work with Joining/Fastener Laboratory to prioritize, execute and report each joint test
- Manage joint verification process, implementation, and improve Joint Calculator
- Ensuring implementation of correct torque value for both in house and Tier assembled joints
Requirements For Mechanical Engineer, Fasteners and Joint Analysis, Tesla Semi
- BS/MS Degree in Mechanical, Materials Engineering or equivalent
- Exceptional understanding of the interactions between the torque, clamp load, friction
- 5+ years of experience in fastener engineering or related field
- Experience developing torque values based on design requirements
- 5+ years of experience of 2D and 3D design (Catia V5 Preferred)
- Experience on fastener/joint tests
- Experience with GD&T and quality control
