Description For Physics Simulation Engineer, Tesla Bot

Tesla is pioneering the development of humanoid bi-pedal robots (Tesla Bot) designed to revolutionize manufacturing and logistics through task automation. As a Physics Simulation Engineer on the Optimus Simulation team, you'll play a crucial role in advancing the Tesla Bot Autonomy stack. The team focuses on virtualizing all aspects of the Tesla Bot within their simulator, ensuring accurate modeling and seamless integration.

Your primary responsibility will be enhancing the physics simulator's capabilities, including implementing new features, addressing sim-to-real gaps, and optimizing performance. You'll work closely with AI/RL teams, contributing to synthetic dataset generation and reinforcement learning environments for neural network training.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in physics simulators, GPU-accelerated physics, and strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python. Your background in Engineering, Computer Science, or Robotics, combined with knowledge of machine learning techniques, will be essential for improving simulation accuracy and bridging the sim-to-real gap.

Responsibilities For Physics Simulation Engineer, Tesla Bot

  • Own and implement features in physics simulator to improve contact physics, run time performance
  • Develop and implement methodologies and tools to address sim to real gaps
  • Closely collaborate with AI/RL teams to address gaps in simulation software
  • Keep up to date and implement the latest research/technologies in humanoid robotics and simulation

Requirements For Physics Simulation Engineer, Tesla Bot

Python
  • Deep understanding in physics simulators (Drake, Mujoco, Physx, Simulink, etc.)
  • Experience in GPU accelerated physics
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and optimization methods
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex systems
