Safety Restraints Design Engineer, Air Bag Systems

Tesla is seeking a Safety Restraints Design Engineer specializing in Air Bag Systems to join their team in Fremont, California. This full-time role is part of the Engineering & Information Technology job category.

The Safety Restraints Design and Release Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of airbag systems, from inception and conceptual design to production release and in-service vehicle life. Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting restraint system integration from design concept to vehicle validation
• Utilizing CAD knowledge (preferably CATIA) for component packaging and design optimization
• Managing supplier relationships and ensuring timely delivery of components
• Applying failure avoidance tools and processes to restraint components
• Overseeing supplier component DVP and control system level testing
• Analyzing test results and identifying necessary adjustments
• Supporting dynamic sled & vehicle crash tests and homologation submissions
• Collaborating with internal departments such as Studio, Vehicle Engineering, and CAE team

The ideal candidate should have:

• Good understanding of Vehicle Safety Restraint Systems and/or vehicle crashworthiness
• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to evolving priorities
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and CAD software (Catia preferred)
