Tesla is seeking a Safety Restraints Design Engineer to join their innovative automotive team in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role is crucial in developing and implementing air bag systems for Tesla's cutting-edge electric vehicles.

As a Safety Restraints Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for all aspects of airbag systems throughout their lifecycle, from initial concept to production and in-service maintenance. Responsibilities For Safety Restraints Design Engineer, Air Bag Systems

  • Support restraint system integration from design concept to vehicle validation
  • Provide engineering expertise to supplier and internal interfacing departments
  • Package components using CAD (CATIA preferred)
  • Manage supplier relationships and ensure meeting timing, quality, cost and validation deliverables
  • Ensure failure avoidance tools and processes implementation
  • Oversee supplier component DVP and control system level testing
  • Analyze test results and identify required adjustments
  • Support dynamic sled & vehicle crash tests and homologation submissions

Requirements For Safety Restraints Design Engineer, Air Bag Systems

  • Understanding of Vehicle Safety Restraint Systems and/or vehicle crashworthiness
  • Engineering fundamentals and mechanical aptitude in problem-solving
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible with evolving priorities
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • CAD knowledge (Catia preferred)
