Description For Sled Test Engineer

Tesla is seeking a Sled Test Engineer to join their Passive Safety team at their Fremont facility. This role is crucial in conducting crash simulation testing for vehicle components and restraint systems development. The position offers an opportunity to work with sophisticated crash simulation equipment in a dynamic environment.

The role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, as you'll be coordinating test execution, managing day-to-day operations, and collaborating with various engineering teams. Responsibilities For Sled Test Engineer

  • Configure, set up, and operate specialized sled test equipment
  • Lead the preparation and set up for test fixtures, equipment and test samples
  • Process and interpret test data, generating graphs and plots
  • Write comprehensive test reports
  • Work with internal engineering teams to develop and validate performance
  • Identify test incidents and write test incident reports
  • Lead post-test tear downs and inspections
  • Develop/Improve supporting processes, procedures and test documentation
  • Maintain safe working practices and environment

Requirements For Sled Test Engineer

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in vehicle safety or vehicle safety focused graduate program
  • Deep understanding of vehicle safety concepts and analysis tools
  • Working knowledge of CAD and structural analysis software (CATIA, SolidWorks)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working in cross functional teams
  • Ability to interpret crash data and video data
  • Experience in test development and instrumentation
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10% travel)
