Description For Software Engineer, Data & Analytics, Self-Driving

Tesla is seeking a Software Engineer for their Data & Analytics team in the Self-Driving division. This high-impact role involves mining fleet data from millions of Tesla cars to improve neural networks and create real-time analytics for measuring Self-Driving performance. The ideal candidate will write fleet queries and Python scripts, create metrics for analyzing Self-Driving performance, visualize data using tools like Grafana, and manage Spark jobs for data pipelines. They will also iterate with AI engineering partners on the effectiveness of new datasets and build automation tools for maximizing workflow efficiency. The role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or exceptional skills in a related field, along with experience in Python, SQL, and preferably Spark, Caspian, JavaScript, Grafana, and OpenSearch. The successful candidate should thrive in a rapidly changing environment with high ambiguity and possess a self-starter mentality.   • Write fleet queries and Python scripts to source new datasets
  • Create metrics to analyze performance of Self-Driving and specific driving events
  • Visualize data and metrics using tools like Grafana (custom JavaScript is a plus)
  • Create Spark jobs to support data pipelines with appropriate alerting to monitor infrastructure health
  • Manage inflow rate and volume of fleet data
  • Iterate with AI engineering partners on effectiveness of new datasets
  • Build automation and tools to make these workflows maximally efficient
