Sr. Algorithm Engineer, Opticaster

As a Sr. Algorithm Engineer at Opticaster, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing advanced algorithms that optimize our energy solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to elevate the control systems for Tesla's entire residential ecosystem, driving enhanced efficiency and sustainability across all our products. You will apply your expertise in optimization, machine learning, and time-series forecasting to craft robust, scalable solutions that advance energy management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement sophisticated optimization algorithms for energy storage and distribution
• Design and create new customer-facing features to enhance user experience
• Apply machine learning techniques to improve load and solar forecasting
• Define, develop, and maintain monitoring and simulation systems
• Oversee the complete software deployment lifecycle
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Perform rigorous testing and validation
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Provide technical insights for product development and business strategies

Requirements:

• Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field with focus on numerical optimization
• Strong proficiency in Python and Linux; expertise in Go and Rust valued
• Experience with numerical optimization techniques and solvers
• Background in algorithmic strategies for optimization challenges
• Experience in machine learning and time-series forecasting
• Familiarity with battery control systems
• Experience deploying code to production environments
• Knowledge of cloud and big data technologies
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in sustainability and clean energy solutions
