Description For Sr. Data Engineer

Tesla is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their energy business team, focusing on Industrial, Residential, Supercharger, and Solar products. This role is crucial in developing data pipelines and analytics tooling to support the company's growing energy division. The position involves working with large-scale data systems to extract insights from various sources, including deployed fleets and internal applications.

The ideal candidate will lead data efforts to identify and resolve fleet-wide performance, operation, and maintenance challenges across Tesla's energy products portfolio. Responsibilities For Sr. Data Engineer

  • Derive overall strategy of data management within established information architecture
  • Gather and process raw, structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data using batch and real-time processing frameworks
  • Develop aggregate and summary tables for various engineering teams across product lines and geographies
  • Mentor and lead data engineers providing technical guidance and oversight
  • Design and develop new systems and tools for cross-functional teams
  • Research and incorporate emerging software infrastructures and big data processing technologies

Requirements For Sr. Data Engineer

Python
Linux
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related quantitative field or equivalent experience
  • Experience in building, deploying, and maintaining PySpark-based data pipelines
  • Experience with SQL and database performance concepts
  • Knowledge of data communication protocols (REST API, GRPC)
  • Strong dev-ops capabilities and bias for automation
  • Proficiency in Python or Scala
  • Experience with Linux
