Description For Sr. Firmware Engineer, Power Electronics

Tesla Energy is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to lead the development of next-generation energy storage and vehicle charging products. This role is crucial in Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. The position involves working with cutting-edge power conversion technology and requires expertise in embedded systems programming, hardware integration, and real-time firmware development.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and validating firmware for AC/DC and DC/DC power converters, while collaborating closely with Hardware, Controls, and Software teams. This role offers the opportunity to work on safety-critical systems that are deployed globally across Tesla's product line.

Key aspects of the role include writing high-quality C code for real-time embedded systems, performing hardware bring-up, and supporting production deployment. The position requires strong electrical engineering fundamentals and experience with microcontroller peripherals and communication protocols. The engineer will also be responsible for tracking fleet performance and driving continuous improvements.

Requirements For Sr. Firmware Engineer, Power Electronics

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience
  • Capable of delivering top quality C code in real time embedded environment
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Strong skills in Python, Javascript, or Simulink
  • Experience with microcontroller peripherals (ADC, DAC, PWM, Timers)
  • Experience with communication protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, UART)
  • Can read hardware schematics
