Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, Coatings Factory Layout

Tesla's manufacturing engineering team is seeking a senior manufacturing engineer for factory layout in the Coatings team. This role involves designing and developing complex 2D/3D layouts for finishing/coating products, including layout development, specification and validation, design for manufacturing, equipment specification and design, and installation and commissioning. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and technology partners on process development from concept to production.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing 2D factory layouts in collaboration with engineering, procurement, and construction firms
• Creating 2D layouts for equipment and utilities positioning
• Partnering with packaging and material flow teams to optimize part presentation and sustainability
• Progressing from 2D/3D layout solutions to 3D factory simulations
• Designing manufacturing equipment and issuing RFQs for production or procurement
• Leading equipment design reviews and cross-functional collaborations
• Managing large-scale projects, including risk analysis and project status reporting

The ideal candidate should have:

• 5+ years of experience in a technology-based industry with automated finishing/coating methods
• Hands-on experience with finishing process layouts, material flow, and factory simulation
• Proficiency in factory simulation software and CAD tools
• Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools
• A Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering
