Description For Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, Electrode Calendering & Lamination

Tesla is seeking highly motivated individuals for a challenging new mass production line focused on next-generation cell production. As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Electrode Calendering & Lamination, you'll work alongside engineers to develop advanced products and cutting-edge manufacturing processes. This fast-paced team offers an environment to develop multiple skills and have an immediate impact on the future of electric vehicles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating design, assembly, installation, and commissioning of next-generation calendaring, lamination, and slitting equipment
  • Collaborating with external equipment integrators on custom automation equipment
  • Generating machine qualification checklists and managing equipment installation and start-up
  • Driving ramp-up of new lines by improving baseline performance and capability
  • Developing manufacturing processes and ensuring compliance with standards and regulations
  • Collaborating with various teams for space readiness and installation plans
  • Driving Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and developing specifications for custom automation equipment
  • Resolving technical quality issues and creating manufacturing instructions

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Experience in high-volume equipment manufacturing, installation, and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in 3D design software (SolidWorks preferred, Catia is a plus)
  • Experience introducing new equipment and processes into production environments
  • Knowledge of safety practices like LOTO
  • Strong documentation skills for manufacturing, maintenance, and quality processes
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel (~5%)

Responsibilities For Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, Electrode Calendering & Lamination

  • Coordinate design, assembly, install, and commission next generation calendaring, lamination, and slitting equipment
  • Collaborate with external equipment integrators on custom automation equipment
  • Generate machine qualification checklists and manage equipment installation and start-up
  • Drive ramp of new lines by improving baseline performance and capability
  • Develop manufacturing processes and ensure compliance with standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with facility, EHS, electrical and design teams for space readiness and installation plans
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and develop specifications for custom automation equipment
  • Provide hands-on assistance to resolve technical quality issues
  • Create manufacturing instructions and deliver training to operations and maintenance technicians

Requirements For Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, Electrode Calendering & Lamination

Python
  • Experience in high volume equipment manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
  • Experience developing automated manufacturing equipment in 3D (SolidWorks preferred, Catia is a plus)
  • Experience introducing new equipment and processes into production environments
  • Experience with LOTO and similar safety practices
