Tesla is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Manufacturing Test Engineering group, focusing on creating robust and data-centric production testing equipment for Tesla's power electronic components in vehicles, stationary storage, humanoid robots, and charging products. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of automotive and robotics technology, specifically on the Tesla Bot project.

You'll be responsible for architecting automated test equipment, producing detailed CAD models, and verifying designs using structural and thermal FEA and CFD. Responsibilities For Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Automated Test Equipment, Tesla Bot

  • Architect automated test equipment, produce detailed-level CAD models, pneumatic diagrams, and verify designs
  • Conceptual equipment development and balance product specifications, process requirements, and constraints
  • Identify and implement performance, robustness, and ease of assembly improvements
  • Analyze system constraints and propose innovative solutions
  • Support building, debugging, validation and equipment duplication efforts
  • Conduct detailed testing and validation of installed machinery
  • Perform on-site and off-site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT) of test equipment

Requirements For Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Automated Test Equipment, Tesla Bot

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience as Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automation Engineer
  • Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production
  • Knowledge in solid mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, dynamics, material selection
  • Exposure to sensors, microcontrollers, robots, relays
  • Strong teamwork skills and collaboration abilities
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM, and Ansys, or similar CAD/CAE software
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
