Responsibilities For Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Closures Mechanisms

  • Serve as a member of the Vehicle Engineering Team to support automotive body and closure system development
  • Conceptualize, design, engineer and launch Closures Systems components
  • Achieve innovation-driven closure system targets for appearance, function, quality, cost and weight
  • Establish system level architecture and functionality
  • Participate in the iterative process with Tesla design and styling studio
  • Support manufacturing processes and material selections
  • Optimize designs with analytical and physical assessments
  • Interpret/develop Tolerance Analysis, CAE, DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA simulations
  • Manage and collaborate with key suppliers

Requirements For Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Closures Mechanisms

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years industry experience in consumer product design
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling utilizing CATIA V5/V6 or similar CAD software
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing principles
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles
  • Experience with cutting edge manufacturing technologies
  • Expertise with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
  • Knowledge of specifications, DFMEAs, DVP&R's development
