Tesla is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Semi-Truck Power Electronics Team, focusing on designing world-class products that power all systems on their revolutionary electric trucks. This role combines mechanical engineering with electrical and magnetic physics, requiring expertise in various disciplines including statics, dynamics, fluids, thermals, and vibration analysis.

Responsibilities For Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Power Electronics, Semi

  • Design and model electro-mechanical parts and assemblies
  • Perform mechanical design analysis including thermal, CFD, structural, and design for assembly
  • Collaborate with program stakeholders for vehicle integration
  • Solve electronics packaging issues
  • Develop engineering test plans
  • Create drawing packages and manufacturing instructions
  • Assist in engineering prototype builds
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for product development

Requirements For Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Power Electronics, Semi

  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical design or related field
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals & physics first-principles
  • Strong organization, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stacks, DFM/DFA/DFT/DFR
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and/or V6 3DExperience
  • Experience with PLM systems
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, Python, Ansys, & StarCCM
  • Experience with environmental, reliability, and safety standards
  • Basic understanding of electrical design fundamentals
  • Experience with high volume manufacturing processes
