The position involves working with Tesla's drive inverter design team, where you'll be responsible for developing and validating high voltage power semiconductor devices for traction inverter applications. You'll conduct experiments, perform statistical trade-off studies, and analyze device performance and lifetime characteristics. The role requires collaboration with various engineering teams, including mechanical, thermal, PCBA, reliability, manufacturing, and firmware, to optimize inverter performance.

Responsibilities For Sr. Power Semiconductor Device Engineer

  • Develop experiments and statistical trade-off studies to analyze device performance and lifetime
  • Characterize, develop, and validate high voltage power semiconductors device model for traction inverter applications
  • Develop screening methods for power semiconductors
  • Measure and analyze data including switching waveforms, losses and thermal performance
  • Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, PCBA, reliability, manufacturing and firmware engineering teams
  • Collaborate with internal and external suppliers to develop next generation power semiconductors
  • Solve challenges at scale for EV drive inverters

Requirements For Sr. Power Semiconductor Device Engineer

Python
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, physics, or equivalent experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of power semiconductors including SiC-MOSFET / semiconductor physics
  • Experience with high voltage applications >300V
  • Experience with scripting for data processing and test automation (MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW)
  • Proficiency with standard EE tools (scopes, network analyzers, signal generators, DAQs, etc.)
