Tesla is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their team in building the future of clean and sustainable energy. This role focuses on designing, modeling, and integrating Tesla's solar-battery-charging ecosystem. The position involves working with utilities, independent power providers, and system operators to scale Tesla's energy solutions on the grid. Responsibilities For Sr. Power Systems Engineer

  • Act as the technical representative for power flow, short circuit, and dynamic modeling discussions with customers
  • Increase in-house capability to model Tesla's product in power systems analysis software
  • Work with product design team and firmware/software teams to keep models current
  • Feed power systems requirement into the product specification to influence system architecture
  • Create models to represent the Tesla Energy system in power flow and dynamic modeling software tools

Requirements For Sr. Power Systems Engineer

  • Expert level knowledge of at least three power system modelling tools: PSCAD, PSS\E, PSLF, DIgSILENT, PowerWorld
  • Experience with modelling and simulations of inverter based generation
  • Experience with performance of interconnection and engineering studies
  • Strong working knowledge of control theory, ability to implement PID control
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems focus or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work cross functionally with customers, engineering, business development, and deployment personnel
