Description For Sr. Power Systems Engineer, Studies

Tesla is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their team in building the power system of the future with clean and sustainable energy. This role focuses on designing, modeling, and integrating Tesla's solar-battery-charging ecosystem. The position involves working with their in-house modeling and hardware-in-loop (HIL) testing capability for energy storage, solar, and electric charging systems at mass scales.

The role offers a unique opportunity to interface with utilities, independent power providers, and system operators in technical power systems discussions. You'll influence systems design to facilitate scaling on the grid and be responsible for developing detailed models of Tesla's technology and controls strategies operating on the grid and forming microgrids of different sizes.

This position combines electrical engineering, controls systems, firmware design, and grid operations, making it an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about sustainable energy and complex technical challenges. The work environment is fast-paced and diverse, requiring strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.

The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $116,000 to $258,000 annually, plus cash and stock awards. Tesla offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with employer match, and various family-friendly benefits. The position is based in Palo Alto, California, at the heart of Tesla's innovation center.

The ideal candidate will bring expert knowledge of HIL tools, strong programming skills, and direct experience with customer-facing HIL controls testing. This role presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy while working on cutting-edge power systems technology.
