Tesla is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their innovative battery cell manufacturing team in Fremont, California. This role is crucial in developing and improving assembly lines for Tesla's cutting-edge cell manufacturing equipment.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on one of Tesla's most complex and challenging components - the Battery Cell. As a Sr. Process Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of building a world-class manufacturing facility from the ground up, working in a fast-paced environment on critical subsystems of Tesla's revolutionary products.

Your responsibilities will span the entire product lifecycle, from initial design through prototype development to full production. You'll collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams, utilizing your expertise in process improvement, data analysis, and manufacturing systems optimization. The role requires strong technical skills, including proficiency in MySQL, Python, and various analytical tools.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of process engineering experience, with a strong background in manufacturing processes, particularly in roll-to-roll manufacturing and automated defect detection systems. Your analytical mindset and statistical expertise will be crucial in optimizing processes and implementing data-driven solutions.

Responsibilities For Sr. Process Engineer, Cell Electrode

  • Process documentation management including Manufacturing Instructions and control plans
  • Utilize SPC data and tools to characterize equipment processes
  • Develop data-driven operational and financial decisions through predictive insights
  • Champion continuous improvement projects and standardization
  • Generate and execute business improvement ideas for cost reduction
  • Develop and manage Poke Yoke setup within Manufacturing Execution System
  • Perform supporting activities for engineering and manufacturing including 5S and Lean manufacturing activities

Requirements For Sr. Process Engineer, Cell Electrode

Python
MySQL
  • Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a process engineer
  • Knowledge of MySQL, Python, R, JMP, Minitab, Tableau, and Ignition software
  • Experience with roll-to-roll manufacturing processes
  • Experience with automated defect detection / vision systems
  • Understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design
  • Data collection and analysis experience in high-volume automated manufacturing
  • Experience with ergonomic process design
