Description For Sr. Staff Electrical Design Engineer, Battery Electronics

Tesla's Battery Electronics team is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead the development of high-voltage battery management PCBAs for their entire vehicle lineup and energy storage solutions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects including the Robotaxi, next-generation mass market platforms, Roadster, Semi, and Cybertruck. The position requires a hands-on engineer with strong electrical engineering fundamentals who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

As a Sr. Staff Electrical Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for end-to-end PCBA design, from concept development through mass production. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize designs for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. Responsibilities For Sr. Staff Electrical Design Engineer, Battery Electronics

  • Design, prototype, build, and test high-voltage battery management electronics for Tesla vehicles and energy products
  • Develop highly automated design validation setups and software to ensure comprehensive test coverage
  • Launch designs to mass production
  • Work with automotive IC manufacturers to co-develop and integrate new technologies into next-generation Tesla Battery Management Systems (BMS)

Requirements For Sr. Staff Electrical Design Engineer, Battery Electronics

Python
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of hands-on industry experience in analog and digital circuit design
  • Strong analytical, circuit analysis and simulation skills
  • Superb failure analysis and PCBA troubleshooting skills
  • Solid knowledge of Python for test automation and data analysis
  • Experience in battery management systems, power electronics, microcontrollers and high-speed digital interfaces
  • Experience designing RF circuits, antennas, and familiarity with wireless communication protocols
  • Experience using Altium Designer and LTSpice
  • Experience using mechanical CAD tools and 3D printing
