Tesla is seeking a Senior Telecom Designer to join their IT Infrastructure Engineering team at the GigaFactory in Austin, Texas. This role combines telecommunications expertise with infrastructure design, requiring a seasoned professional with BICSI RCDD certification. The position involves working on new build projects at GigaFactory Austin, Corpus Christi, and other Texas initiatives. You'll collaborate with Tesla Construction, Manufacturing Engineers, and IT Networking teams to design and implement structured cabling and infrastructure solutions. The role demands expertise in BIM design environments, particularly with Revit and NavisWorks, and requires coordination with multiple engineering disciplines. Responsibilities For Sr. Telecom Designer, IT Infrastructure Engineering
- Perform structured cabling and infrastructure design coordination
- Develop design drawings and specifications for future project sites
- Prepare drawing packages including site plans and communication room layouts
- Prepare cable pathway fill calculations and cost opinions
- Coordinate network infrastructure design with other engineering disciplines
- Conduct field surveys during programming and construction phases
- Ensure conformance with standards and applicable codes
- Work within BIM design environment using Revit and NavisWorks
- Collaborate with internal and external project teams from concept to completion
Requirements For Sr. Telecom Designer, IT Infrastructure Engineering
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification
- 3+ years of relevant experience as an RCDD
- Fluent in Autodesk CAD programs including Revit, NavisWorks, AutoCAD
- Deep understanding of communications system design
