Tesla is seeking a Senior Test Engineer specializing in thermal event testing for their battery and energy storage systems. Responsibilities For Sr. Test Engineer, Thermal Event, Semi
- Create detailed test plans based on communication with design teams and program managers
- Own test planning activities including instrumentation and charging
- Coordinate with technicians in battery pack build, instrumentation, test teams
- Conduct tests safely and according to design intent/failure mode
- Analyze thermal and electrical data, video footage and present test results
- Identify and execute ideas to improve battery thermal testing efficiency
- Develop coupon studies for rapid subsystem testing
- Collaborate with modeling team on results and mechanisms
- Interpret regulations and tailor tests setup accordingly
Requirements For Sr. Test Engineer, Thermal Event, Semi
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Focus areas in heat transfer, combustion, or materials
- 2-10 years of experience in design validation/compliance/battery testing
- Must be hands-on (physical assembly, electrical wiring/troubleshooting)
- Experience with data analysis tools - Matlab or Python preferred
- Experience with CAD (CATIA a bonus)
- Willing to travel up to 20% to test sites
