Description For Sr. Thermal Design Engineer, Megapack

Tesla Energy Products team is seeking a Sr. Thermal Design Engineer for Megapack. As part of the Mechanical Design Team, you will design and package thermal systems for Tesla Energy products. The role involves collaborating with various teams, applying engineering fundamentals to design thermal assemblies crucial to Tesla's success. You'll work on airflow management, coolant and refrigerant flow management, and thermal actuator mounting. Responsibilities include mechanical design of components, developing validation plans, creating drawing packages, and working with cross-functional teams from prototype to mass production. Responsibilities For Sr. Thermal Design Engineer, Megapack

  • Design packaging and components for airflow, coolant, and refrigerant flow management
  • Mechanical design of components and assemblies with hands-on prototyping
  • Develop and execute component and subsystem design validation plans
  • Create high-quality drawing packages and manufacturing instructions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle
  • Assist in engineering prototype builds and component fabrication
  • Root cause and solve test failures and production problems
  • Travel to support production launch and ramp

Requirements For Sr. Thermal Design Engineer, Megapack

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of product design experience
  • Experience in designing for high volume assembly, both manual and automated
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in heat transfer, mechanics, and fluids
  • Deep understanding of material science of components used in mechanical design and their fabrication processes
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes
  • Experience defining test plans, designing test setups, and analyzing data
  • Detail-oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling, CATIA preferred
