Responsibilities For Staff Cell Lifetime Modeling Engineer
- Develop and calibrate cell degradation models for different cell chemistries
- Develop cell degradation mechanisms through analysis of lab cycling and storage data
- Guide development of higher fidelity degradation models for EV and Energy Storage products
- Interface with cross functional teams for degradation simulations and forecasts
- Advance cell degradation modeling capability at Tesla
- Lead a small team of Modeling Engineers
Requirements For Staff Cell Lifetime Modeling Engineer
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
- Strong background in numerical methods, optimization and numerical solutions of ODEs and PDEs
- 5+ years experience in developing empirical or physics-based models of dynamic systems
- 5+ years programming and numerical modeling experience in MATLAB or Python
- Strong communication and cross-functional interaction skills
- Experience working with lithium-ion batteries is preferred
- Technical leadership experience is strongly desired
