We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux Systems Engineer to join our team at Tesla. In this role, you will be responsible for managing projects and driving initiatives related to Tesla's Linux compute infrastructure and adjacent services. These services are directly used by Manufacturing, Autopilot, Energy, and Tesla application teams.
As a Staff Linux Systems Engineer, you will:
- Design and develop services for consumers of various Linux-based compute infrastructure services
- Develop and maintain system configurations, base images, and deployment strategies
- Implement and integrate adjacent services such as monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery
- Create and enforce policies and standards related to Linux system administration, security, and compliance
- Lead and manage projects related to Linux infrastructure, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments
- Ensure system performance, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring and optimization
- Implement and enforce security standards and practices to protect Linux systems and data
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and security teams to support and enhance Linux infrastructure
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Extensive experience with Linux distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar
- Expertise in base image creation, system configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Cloud init), and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Deep understanding of security standards, access methods, and compliance requirements
- Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
