Tesla's Engineering Tools team is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to manage critical developer productivity tools and internal communication platforms. This role is crucial for enabling software development at scale across various internal organizations including Autopilot, Firmware, Factory Software, and Manufacturing.
The position involves managing essential engineering tools such as GitHub, Bitbucket, SVN & Perforce for version control, Jira & Confluence for project tracking, Polarion for requirements management, and Artifactory for software artifact storage. The ideal candidate will combine strong software engineering expertise with systems administration skills.
As a Staff SRE, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of Tesla's development capabilities. This includes designing automation solutions, administering various development tools, performing regular maintenance, and participating in on-call rotations. The role requires expertise in containerization, monitoring solutions, and programming languages.
The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $140,000 to $300,000 annually, plus additional cash and stock awards. Responsibilities For Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Engineering Tools
- Design, implement, and maintain automation solutions for engineering tools infrastructure
- Administer & support Atlassian application stack (Jira, Confluence)
- Administer Polarion, including configuration and integrations
- Perform regular backups, upgrades, and patch management
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical issues across multiple layers
- Conduct performance analysis & capacity planning
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents
- Collaborate with development and operations teams for CI/CD pipelines
Requirements For Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Engineering Tools
- Experience with Github Enterprise installation, configuration, and support
- Proficient in managing Jira projects and Confluence Spaces
- Experience with Polarion in High Availability mode
- Experience with programming languages (Python, Shell, Golang) & automation frameworks
- Knowledge of Docker & Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana and Splunk
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
