Tesla is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer for their PLM Operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and improving the software tools and data stores used by thousands of Tesla Engineers worldwide for designing mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software systems. The position can be based in Palo Alto, CA, San Diego, CA, or Austin, TX.
As a member of the PLM/CAD Operations team (POPS), you'll be expected to be a technical generalist with deeper expertise in areas like database, networking, or cluster management. The role focuses on replacing toil with automation, developing tooling primarily in Go, but also working with Java, Python, JS frameworks, Tcl, and even some VB.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining SLOs for latency, traffic, errors, and saturation
- Maintaining Tesla-custom Helm Charts for deploying 3DExperience services on Kubernetes
- Modernizing deployment infrastructure using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Atlantis, and Terraform
- Achieving high-performance service using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Catchpoint, Splunk, and OpsGenie
- Participating in on-call rotation and managing incidents as Incident Commander
- Managing tasks via Jira and maintaining excellent Jira hygiene
- Writing and reviewing design docs for testing frameworks, deployment models, and environment definitions
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Deep networking experience
- Extensive Oracle Database experience
- Docker/Kubernetes expertise
- Experience diagnosing problems in legacy enterprise Java stacks
- Knowledge of 3DExperience or similar PLM software
- Understanding of hypervisor technology (VMware)
