Tesla is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Autonomy teams, focusing on ML Inference Compiler & Deployment for Optimus, their humanoid robot project. This role is at the intersection of AI, robotics, and autonomous systems, working on one of the world's most advanced and widely deployed AI Platforms.

The position involves deep technical work with Tesla's AI inference stack, which powers both their autonomous vehicles and Optimus robot. You'll be working closely with AI Engineers and Hardware Engineers to optimize neural network performance and efficiency. The role requires expertise in C++ and Python programming, along with significant experience in machine learning compilers and frameworks.

Responsibilities For Staff Software Engineer, ML Inference Compiler & Deployment, Optimus

  • Develop, optimize, maintain, and debug the AI inference stack for Optimus
  • Co-Design models for efficient execution on AI hardware
  • Collaborate with AI/runtime/OS/driver teams for efficient compilation and execution
  • Analyze and debug functional and performance issues on massively-parallel systems
  • Maintain compatibility with latest ML/compiler community developments

Requirements For Staff Software Engineer, ML Inference Compiler & Deployment, Optimus

Python
  • Proficient C/C++ programming (C++14/17/20)
  • Basic Python proficiency
  • Prior experience working with ML compilers (e.g. MLIR, XLA, TensorRT)
  • Experience with ML frameworks and ML architecture (e.g. PyTorch, JAX, TF)
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
