Description For Structural Design Engineer

Tesla is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join their Engineering team. This role is responsible for engineering best-in-class body structure architectures and systems for Tesla's premium vehicle programs. The ideal candidate will conceptualize, design, engineer, release, develop, and launch Body Structure components and systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and developing Body in White components and system requirements
  • Establishing system architecture and functional feasibility
  • Optimizing concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments
  • Delivering world-class craftsmanship and fit/finish
  • Interfacing with Tesla and Supplier manufacturing
  • Developing design concepts in CATIA V5 and CATIA V6

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Structural Design Engineering
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design, preferably CATIA
  • Understanding of GD&T in Design Engineering
  • Knowledge of metal parts manufacturing methods
  • Ability to interpret CAE results and integrate recommendations into product designs

Responsibilities For Structural Design Engineer

  • Create and develop Body in White components, system requirements and specifications
  • Establish system architecture and functional feasibility
  • Optimize concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments
  • Deliver world-class craftsmanship and fit/finish through proper implementation of GD&T
  • Interface with Tesla and Supplier manufacturing
  • Create component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods
  • Develop design concepts in CATIA V5 and CATIA V6
  • Release parts for production in the PLM system

Requirements For Structural Design Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2 years minimum experience in Structural Design Engineering
  • Proficiency in computer aided design, CATIA experience preferred
  • Understanding of GD&T in Design Engineering
  • Knowledge of metal parts manufacturing methods
