Description For Structural Design Engineer, Semi

Tesla is seeking a Structural Design Engineer for their Semi program in Austin, Texas. This role is crucial in engineering best-in-class body structure architectures and systems for Tesla's premium vehicle programs. As a Structures Design Engineer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, engineering, releasing, developing, and launching body structure components and systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and developing Body in White components and system requirements
  • Establishing system architecture and functional feasibility
  • Optimizing concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments
  • Delivering world-class craftsmanship and fit/finish
  • Interfacing with Tesla and Supplier manufacturing
  • Developing design concepts in CATIA V5 and CATIA V6

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Structural Design Engineering
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design, preferably CATIA
  • Understanding of GD&T in Design Engineering
  • Knowledge of metal parts manufacturing methods
  • Ability to interpret CAE results and integrate recommendations into product designs
