The Chassis Design Engineering team plays a critical part in that mission, helping to deliver a safe, efficient, comfortable, and enjoyable driving experience, while also focusing on the sustainability and value of Tesla's products.

As a Systems Engineer in Chassis Engineering at Tesla, you'll work alongside experts with many years of experience, high aptitude recent graduates, and people from every stage in between. Collaboration, learning, and growth are core to the team's success. The team works in small, dedicated groups to manage various aspects of Tesla's passenger car, autonomous, and heavy vehicle programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building, maintaining, and validating MATLAB models for actuators
  • Tracking vehicle-level requirements and developing system and component requirements
  • Driving design optimization to KPIs such as mass, cost, and performance through system modeling
  • Developing product specifications, analyzing system performance, and quantifying KPIs
  • Harmonizing component- and system-level requirements with those at vehicle-level

You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology, including by-wire actuation and active/adaptive suspension systems. The role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals, creativity in problem-solving, and the ability to learn quickly while managing projects independently.

  • Track vehicle-level requirements and develop system and component requirements accordingly
  • Drive design optimization to KPIs such as mass, cost, and performance through system modeling

Requirements For Systems Engineer, Chassis Engineering

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or Controls) or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build and validate a model of complex system
  • Great technical and interpersonal communication
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink (or equivalent)
