Description For Systems Integration Engineer, Thermal Systems

Tesla's Thermal Systems Software team is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to lead the development of vehicle thermal systems across all Tesla vehicles. This role is central to ensuring software development, integration, and validation meet Tesla's high standards for safety and customer experience. The position focuses on managing temperature for critical powertrain systems including battery, drive units, and charger, utilizing Tesla's sophisticated thermal management systems.

The role combines software engineering with thermal systems expertise, requiring hands-on involvement in source code review, problem-solving, and in-vehicle testing. You'll work cross-functionally with various engineering teams to implement new features, improve system robustness, and enhance overall performance. Responsibilities For Systems Integration Engineer, Thermal Systems

  • Work with design and development engineers to ensure subsystems meet vehicle function requirements
  • Break down feature requests into sub-system requirements and drive implementation
  • Develop validation strategies and work with validation teams
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and software teams
  • Debug issues at system level and propose solutions
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and service teams
  • Lead integration of prototype systems including bring-up and debug
  • Design tests and identify areas of concern

Requirements For Systems Integration Engineer, Thermal Systems

Python
Linux
  • Degree in Mechatronics, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with C/C++
  • Hands-on experience debugging complex systems with networked microprocessors
  • Understanding of low voltage and high voltage circuits
  • Ability to interpret system data
  • Experience with Python (preferred)
  • Experience with CAN and Vector CAN tools (preferred)
  • Experience with FMEA and HARA (preferred)
