Description For Technical Program Manager, Manufacturing Test Engineering

Tesla's Manufacturing Test Engineering group is seeking a highly motivated hands-on Technical Program Manager to drive development of custom manufacturing equipment with mechanical, electrical, controls and software engineers. As a Technical Program Manager for this team, you'll be part of the group responsible for developing manufacturing testing equipment for ALL Tesla products (except car computers). This exciting role involves interacting with product designers, firmware engineers, manufacturing engineers, supply chain, and product operators.

You will interface with cross-functional teams to identify and define product constraints and key change items. You'll help define and drive the development, validation, and implementation of custom manufacturing equipment for various factories worldwide. Your responsibilities include communicating project status, highlighting schedule risks, motivating the team to meet aggressive deadlines, and developing recovery plans when projects slip.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and communicate schedules and plans for developing and deploying custom manufacturing equipment
  • Drive action with internal and cross-functional teams to complete projects within time, budget, and resource constraints
  • Track project progress and report on status, blockers, and changes
  • Identify creative solutions to program challenges
  • Manage resource balancing between different program priorities
  • Develop best practices for communication and change management
  • Ensure accurate documentation across Tesla systems

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience in schedule management and communication
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Understanding of design cycles and problem-solving processes
  • Exposure to electrical test instruments is a plus
