Description For Test Engineer, Instrumentation & Calibration

Tesla is seeking a Test Engineer for Instrumentation & Calibration to join their Instrumentation, Calibration, and Imaging Group. This role will support product validation for all Tesla products, primarily focusing on sustaining vehicle portfolio and new vehicles in development. The position involves performing and overseeing instrumentation and data acquisition of components, sub-systems, and full vehicles in laboratory and proving ground environments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting instrumentation and data collection requests from various teams
  • Providing expertise on sensor locations, types, and data acquisition systems
  • Installing sensors and data acquisition hardware on vehicles
  • Creating work plans and documentation for instrumentation processes
  • Designing custom brackets and fixtures
  • Supporting testing activities and vehicle preparation
  • Performing onsite support and testing while monitoring data
  • Conducting basic data analysis and cleanup

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong background in electro-mechanical engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with various sensors and data acquisition systems
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and test equipment
  • Experience with data processing and CAD for fixture design
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Flexibility to travel domestically (up to 25%)

Requirements For Test Engineer, Instrumentation & Calibration

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong electro-mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience instrumenting vehicles with various sensors
  • Experience with data acquisition systems (DTS, SOMAT, NI, DEWESOFT, etc.)
  • Ability to operate diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and other test equipment
  • Data processing and analysis skills using nCode GlyphWorks or similar
  • Experience with CAD for fixture design
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to travel domestically (Up to 25%)
