Tesla is seeking a Test Engineer to join their Instrumentation, Calibration, and Imaging Group, focusing on product validation across all Tesla products. This role is integral to both sustaining the current vehicle portfolio and supporting new vehicle development. The position demands expertise in instrumentation and data acquisition of components, sub-systems, and full vehicles in laboratory and proving ground environments.

The ideal candidate will bring strong electro-mechanical engineering fundamentals and extensive experience with various testing equipment and data acquisition systems. You'll be responsible for supporting multiple engineering teams by providing expertise in sensor selection, installation, and data collection. Responsibilities For Test Engineer, Instrumentation & Calibration, Semi

  • Support instrumentation and data collection requests from test and design teams
  • Provide expertise in sensor locations and types selection
  • Provide expertise on data acquisition system selection and settings
  • Install sensors and data acquisition hardware on vehicles
  • Create daily work plans and documentation
  • Design and create custom brackets and fixtures
  • Support testing activities and vehicle preparation
  • Perform onsite support and testing while monitoring data
  • Conduct basic data analysis and data cleanup

Requirements For Test Engineer, Instrumentation & Calibration, Semi

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or equivalent experience
  • Strong electro-mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience instrumenting vehicles with Accelerometers, Loadcells, Pressure sensors, Thermocouples, Wheel Force Transducers, Strain gages
  • Experience with data acquisition systems like DTS, SOMAT, NI, DEWESOFT
  • Ability to operate diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and other test equipment
  • Experience with CAD for fixture design
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to travel domestically (Up to 50%)
