Responsibilities For Thermal Controls Engineer, Vehicle Controls
- Design, simulate, and implement thermal control algorithms for powertrain, battery-packs, heat pump, and cabin HVAC systems
- Develop estimation and control algorithms for thermal management
- Develop control-oriented system models
- Work with Firmware, Integration and Hardware Engineers
- Monitor and investigate customer feedback
- Plan and execute focused test-trips
- Collaborate with reliability engineering
- Drive Tesla vehicles to provide feedback and identify improvements
- Advance thermal and HVAC Control systems
Requirements For Thermal Controls Engineer, Vehicle Controls
- Background in linear systems analysis and control systems
- Proficiency with creating controls-oriented dynamic system models in Matlab/Simulink/Python
- Experience in designing and implementing control systems
- Strong fundamentals of heat-transfer and thermodynamics
- Proficiency with analysis of large data sets in MATLAB/Python
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Basic proficiency with Embedded Firmware development in C/C++
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
