Description For Vehicle Program Manager, Vehicle Engineering

As the Vehicle Program Manager at Tesla, you will be responsible for defining vehicle specifications, developing product business cases, formally communicating program direction, and negotiating program schedules. You will work closely with cross-company teams including Studio, Engineering, Supply Chain, Factory, and Sales departments to balance product needs and deliver new vehicle programs.

Your role involves collaborating with Vehicle Technical Leaders and company executives to align company direction and vehicle specifications. Your work will impact new and existing vehicle programs from concept through ongoing production, planning and maintaining projects that keep Tesla vehicles world-leading and breaking new industry boundaries.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, negotiating, and approving vehicle program schedules
  • Creating and managing vehicle product specifications with change control
  • Developing program business cases and managing program costs
  • Translating company priorities into actionable workstreams
  • Establishing cross-functional alignment between teams
  • Informing executives on critical program decisions
  • Analyzing program risk and implementing mitigations
  • Communicating program direction to downstream departments

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, with 5+ years of program/project management experience in cross-functional product development. You should have experience in fast-paced environments, end-to-end product deployment, and working with limited resources and tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is experience with program management tools and processes.
