Description For Mechanical Design Engineer

Textum OPCO, LLC is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer for its Belmont, NC textile manufacturing operation. The role requires significant prior experience in designing, building, and working with mechanical systems; interfacing with vendors, technicians, and peers; and communicating challenges, identifying needs, and formulating plans. The Mechanical Design Engineer will perform various activities including custom equipment design, build, and maintenance; production equipment style changes; additive manufacturing; and PLC programming.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating tools and equipment from product functional requirements
  • Managing vendors for custom hardware procurement
  • Implementing process monitoring, feedback, and in situ quality control
  • Documenting and managing build processes and equipment implementation
  • Collaborating on prototypes and first articles with new equipment
  • Supporting transition of new equipment to production
  • Writing technical documentation
  • Providing ongoing production support

Requirements:

  • Exclusive US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical engineering preferred)
  • SolidWorks design experience desired
  • Experience with advanced textile weaving and composite materials is advantageous
  • Strong mechanical/technical aptitude and manual dexterity
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to operate hand tools and machinery
  • Must pass drug test and background check
