Software Developer, Promotions (Coop) - W2025

theScore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PENN Entertainment, is seeking a Software Developer, Promotions (Coop) for the Winter 2025 term. As part of the Promotions Core team, you'll work with smart, friendly engineers and product managers to increase user acquisition, retention, and engagement through new reward-based experiences and marketing tools.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Working with Elixir, Phoenix, and Phoenix LiveView
• Developing and optimizing gRPC APIs
• Building functionality for the Marketing Ops team
• Optimizing the Promotions service for a growing userbase
• Participating in feature design, architecture, and delivery in an agile/scrum environment

Requirements:

• Strong foundation in computer science (data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, software design)
• Passion for clean code architecture and software craftsmanship
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with modern web frameworks and API development
• Comfortable working in the terminal
• Experience with Git/GitHub
• Knowledge of automated testing concepts and frameworks
• Strong grasp of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
