Thorlabs is seeking a Design Engineer to join their team in Dortmund, Germany. This role involves collaborating with development and production teams to create mechatronic components, assemblies, and devices in photonics. Key responsibilities include executing assembly testing, providing preproduction troubleshooting support, designing optomechanical components, and preparing manufacturing and customer drawings. The ideal candidate should be skilled in 3D-CAD software (preferably SolidWorks), have experience in project management, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. Responsibilities For Design Engineer (m/w/x)
- Collaboration with the development team and production team
- Development, launching of mechatronic components, assemblies and devices in photonics
- Execution of assembly testing
- Preproduction troubleshooting and debugging support
- Design of optomechanical components
- Preparing of manufacturing, assembly and customer drawings and object lists
- Support for compliance and general documentation (eg. Machinery Directive, Product Manual)
Requirements For Design Engineer (m/w/x)
- Skilled in using 3D-CAD software (preferably SolidWorks)
- Experience in project management
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Focussed and determined DFMA
- An excellent standard of written and verbal communication skills
- Proven abilities to work in a collegial environment within other departments, within other working entities worldwide
- Very good communication skills, solution oriented and focussed with the ability to inform, to train, to support
