Thorlabs is seeking a Design Engineer to join their team in Dortmund, Germany. This role involves collaborating with development and production teams to create mechatronic components, assemblies, and devices in photonics. Key responsibilities include executing assembly testing, providing preproduction troubleshooting and debugging support, designing optomechanical components, and preparing manufacturing, assembly, and customer drawings. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in 3D-CAD software (preferably SolidWorks), experience in project management, and excellent communication abilities. Responsibilities For Design Engineer (m/w/x)
- Collaboration with the development team and production team
- Development, launching of mechatronic components, assemblies and devices in photonics
- Execution of assembly testing
- Preproduction troubleshooting and debugging support
- Design of optomechanical components
- Preparing of manufacturing, assembly and customer drawings and object lists
- Support for compliance and general documentation (e.g. Machinery Directive, Product Manual)
Requirements For Design Engineer (m/w/x)
- Skilled in using 3D-CAD software (preferably SolidWorks)
- Experience in project management
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Focused and determined DFMA
- Excellent standard of written and verbal communication skills
- Proven abilities to work in a collegial environment within other departments, within other working entities worldwide
- Very good communication skills, solution-oriented and focused with the ability to inform, train, and support
