TKDA is seeking a Professional Electrical Engineer to join their 100% employee-owned engineering firm in Downers Grove, Illinois. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a multi-disciplined team on diverse projects across industrial, mining, rail, education, government, aviation, and municipal markets. The position requires expertise in office building and industrial power/lighting/signal system design, with responsibilities spanning from technical design work to construction administration.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 4 years of experience in power system design. They will work alongside Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Structural Engineering professionals, contributing to various challenging projects from educational facilities to industrial plants.

Key responsibilities include developing comprehensive electrical engineering plans, creating detailed documentation, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements. The role involves hands-on work with electrical distribution equipment, including panel boards, transformers, lighting, fire alarm, and security systems.

  • Implement electrical engineering portions of projects
  • Develop site, power, lighting, and signal plans
  • Create panel board, conduit/cable, and equipment schedules
  • Produce detail drawings
  • Assist with construction administration
  • Review shop drawings
  • Conduct site observations for compliance

Requirements For Professional Engineer, Electrical

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer registration in Minnesota or ability to obtain within 12-18 months
  • 4+ years experience in power, lighting, and signal system design
  • Experience with electrical distribution equipment design
  • Experience with 208/120 and 480/277 volt systems
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
