Toast is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer (RF) to join their Hardware team. This role involves designing and developing world-class hardware devices in conjunction with JDM & ODM partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, particularly in RF systems, and will be responsible for integrating electrical systems throughout devices to enable target use cases and meet product metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Product Management, Product Design Architecture, Industrial Design, and executive leadership on new product definitions
- Efficiently integrate electrical systems throughout devices
- Discuss engineering tradeoffs across multiple disciplines including antennas, cameras, sensors, displays, and batteries
- Partner with global Product Engineering teams to bring products to market
- Offer ongoing support and bring lessons learned back into the definition process of next-generation devices
Requirements:
- BS degree/ME or equivalent practical experience in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 7+ years of equivalent working experience
- Experience in design, implementation, debugging, and characterization of Electrical Engineering systems
- Ability to design prototype devices to validate new form factors, features, or concepts
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
Highly Preferred Skills:
- PCB layout & Schematic using Cadence and Allegro
- WLAN & Bluetooth connectivity experience
- Understanding of LTE connectivity
- Payment certification knowledge
- Solder skills – assembly and rework
- Basic antenna design knowledge
