Description For Founding Platform Engineer (L5)

Toma is revolutionizing the $2T automotive industry by building an end-to-end AI workforce. As the Founding Platform Engineer (L5), you'll be the cornerstone of our technical foundation, leading our entire infrastructure and platform services. The role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of automotive automation, working with cutting-edge AI and ML technologies.

The position demands expertise in cloud infrastructure, containerization, and ML/LLM deployment pipelines. You'll be responsible for building scalable systems that enable rapid development while maintaining reliability and security. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, requiring skills in AWS services, Kubernetes, and observability tools.

Working from our San Francisco office in the Dogpatch neighborhood, you'll join a team that values autonomy, data-driven decision-making, and rapid execution. The company culture emphasizes accountability and provides full context for informed decision-making. With customers spending over $1B on processes that can be automated with AI, your work will directly impact the automotive industry's digital transformation.

The compensation package includes competitive salary ($150K-$210K), equity (0.50%-1.50%), and comprehensive benefits. You'll work alongside founders with proven track records in AI applications and deep industry knowledge. The role offers unparalleled opportunity to make significant impact in a fast-growing space, supported by strong market positioning and customer relationships.

This is an ideal position for a seasoned platform engineer who wants to build and own critical infrastructure from the ground up, working with modern technologies and solving complex challenges in AI deployment and scaling.
