Description For Managed Services Engineer| Patch Management (Remote)

Trace3 is a leading Transformative IT Authority, providing unique technology solutions and consulting services to our clients. The Managed Services Engineer – Patch Management is responsible for overseeing and performing patch management services for the client's servers and endpoints, including Windows and Linux operating systems. This role involves scheduling, deploying, and troubleshooting OS patches during monthly maintenance windows, ensuring security compliance and system stability. The engineer will use tools like MECM, Datto, and Ansible to manage the patching process, generate compliance reports, and recommend workflow improvements. Additionally, they will collaborate with the client to ensure patch approval and manage remediation for failed patches when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patch Deployment: Schedule and apply OS patches for Windows servers, Linux servers, and workstations during pre-scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Patching Tools Management: Utilize MECM, Datto, and Ansible to manage and automate patching processes across the client's environment.
  • Compliance Reporting: Generate and provide PowerBI compliance reports on patching status and security updates.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor patch deployment success and troubleshoot any failed patches, providing remediation when necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend updates and improvements to patch management workflows to optimize system performance and compliance.
  • Client Collaboration: Work with clients to review patch approvals, manage exception lists, and ensure proper access to servers and domain controllers.
  • Emergency Patching: Provide out-of-band or emergency patching services as needed, ensuring critical systems remain secure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field with 3-5 years of experience in patch management and system administration for Windows and Linux environments.
  • Proficiency in MECM, Datto, and Ansible for managing patches.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux (CentOS, Red Hat).
  • Experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation.
  • Familiarity with security patching best practices, compliance standards (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001), and vulnerability management.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
