Description For Mission Systems Engineer

True Anomaly is seeking a Mission Systems Engineer to join their team in developing and integrating cutting-edge aerospace and defense systems. This role is critical in defining, analyzing, and ensuring the successful implementation of mission requirements across complex aerospace platforms. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing, analyzing, and optimizing spacecraft trajectories and operations related to rendezvous, docking, and proximity missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define mission objectives and system requirements
  • Lead system trade studies and performance evaluations
  • Design and analyze RPO mission trajectories
  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity models for spacecraft motion
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mission analysis or space operations
  • Expertise in RPO mission design and spacecraft operations
  • Proficiency in mission analysis tools (STK, FreeFlyer, GMAT)
  • Strong understanding of orbital mechanics and autonomous space operations
  • Experience with simulation tools and programming (MATLAB, Python, C++)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI or TS/SAP U.S. government security clearance

Responsibilities For Mission Systems Engineer

  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams to define and document mission objectives, system requirements, and operational concepts
  • Translate customer and mission needs into actionable engineering solutions
  • Lead system trade studies, performance evaluations, and feasibility assessments
  • Lead the design, simulation, and analysis of RPO mission trajectories
  • Optimize spacecraft maneuvers for mission objectives
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders
  • Support proposal development for new mission opportunities
  • Oversee the integration of mission systems
  • Develop system-level integration and verification plans
  • Coordinate with subsystem teams to troubleshoot integration challenges
  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity models for spacecraft motion
  • Use advanced tools to simulate mission scenarios
  • Run Monte Carlo simulations to assess mission robustness
  • Conduct system performance analysis
  • Assess mission success criteria and operational risks

Requirements For Mission Systems Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mission analysis, space operations, or orbital mechanics
  • Demonstrated expertise in RPO mission design and spacecraft operations
  • Hands-on experience with mission analysis tools (STK, FreeFlyer, GMAT)
  • Strong understanding of orbital mechanics, spacecraft dynamics, and autonomous space operations
  • Proficiency in simulation tools and programming languages (MATLAB, Python, C++)
  • Experience with mission planning and real-time mission support
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI or TS/SAP U.S. government security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship or eligibility to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
