Description For Mission Systems Engineer - Mission Architect

Your responsibilities will span from mission design and requirements analysis to system integration and verification. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into actionable engineering solutions, lead trade studies, and optimize spacecraft maneuvers. Your expertise in orbital mechanics and autonomous space operations will be essential in designing and simulating Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) mission trajectories.

You'll work with advanced tools like STK, GMAT, and MATLAB to model mission scenarios, conduct performance analyses, and assess operational risks. Your role will also involve preparing technical reports, supporting proposal development, and providing real-time mission support.

Responsibilities For Mission Systems Engineer - Mission Architect

  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams to define and document mission objectives, system requirements, and operational concepts
  • Translate customer and mission needs into actionable engineering solutions
  • Lead system trade studies, performance evaluations, and feasibility assessments
  • Lead the design, simulation, and analysis of RPO mission trajectories
  • Optimize spacecraft maneuvers to achieve mission objectives
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation
  • Support proposal development and provide technical input for new mission opportunities
  • Oversee the integration of mission systems
  • Develop system-level integration and verification plans
  • Coordinate with subsystem teams to troubleshoot and resolve integration challenges
  • Support mission operations teams during testing and real-time mission execution
  • Develop, validate, and maintain high-fidelity models for spacecraft motion and environmental factors
  • Use advanced tools to simulate mission scenarios and predict outcomes
  • Run Monte Carlo simulations to assess mission robustness
  • Conduct system performance analysis
  • Assess mission success criteria and operational risks, and propose mitigation strategies
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight mission analysis

Requirements For Mission Systems Engineer - Mission Architect

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mission analysis, space operations, or orbital mechanics
  • Demonstrated expertise in RPO mission design and spacecraft operations
  • Hands-on experience with mission analysis tools such as STK, FreeFlyer, GMAT, or similar software
  • Strong understanding of orbital mechanics, spacecraft dynamics, and autonomous space operations
  • Proficiency in simulation tools and programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++)
  • Experience with mission planning and real-time mission support
