Description For Spacecraft Chief Engineer

True Anomaly is seeking a Spacecraft Chief Engineer for their GEO spacecraft build. As the technical authority of the Jackal for GEO spacecraft, you will provide assessments of requirements, design, risks, and schedule with Program Managers and engineering owners. You'll identify gaps between requirements, design, manufacturing, operations, and facility solutions across the lifecycle build. You'll assess and approve technical completion and compliance at major program reviews, provide innovative design processes, and advise teams on flight and ground architectures. Leadership and mentorship in coordinating design, analysis, and systems engineering processes are key responsibilities. You'll oversee production and delivery of Jackal spacecrafts and report to the Vice President of Space Systems.

Qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of advanced spacecraft design, development, test, and analysis experience
  • Full life-cycle development experience with spacecraft and/or satellite flight systems
  • Experience designing, deploying, and supporting multiple complete flight systems
  • Experience in mission and safety-critical environments
  • Proven track record of building and managing high-performing spacecraft engineering teams
  • Leadership experience in a space development environment

The compensation package includes a base salary range of $220,000 - $285,000, plus equity and benefits such as health, dental, vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO, paid holidays, 401K, and parental leave.

Responsibilities For Spacecraft Chief Engineer

  • Act as the technical authority of the Jackal for GEO spacecraft build
  • Provide assessments of requirements, design, risks, and schedule with Program Managers and engineering owners
  • Identify gaps between requirements, design, manufacturing, operations and facility solutions across the lifecycle build
  • Assess and approve technical completion and compliance at major program and element technical reviews
  • Provide innovative design processes and advise teams on solutions for flight and ground architectures
  • Provide engineering leadership and mentorship to coordinate design, analysis and systems engineering processes
  • Oversee production and delivery of Jackal spacecrafts

Requirements For Spacecraft Chief Engineer

  • Minimum of 10+ years of advanced spacecraft design, development, test and analysis experience
  • Experience in full life-cycle development of spacecraft and/or satellite flight systems
  • Experience designing, deploying and supporting multiple complete flight systems or systems of similar complexity
  • Experience with development in mission and safety-critical environments
  • Proven track record of building and managing high-performing spacecraft engineering teams
  • Leadership experience in a space development environment
  • U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or eligibility to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
