Description For Staff Spacecraft Payload Systems Engineer

True Anomaly is revolutionizing spacecraft design, build, and operation. We seek a passionate candidate for the Staff Spacecraft Payload Systems Engineer role. You'll lead teams developing spacecraft payloads from concept to flight production for various missions and customers. Responsibilities include overseeing development, requirements definition, design, procurement, fabrication, integration, testing, and validation of entire payload systems. You'll collaborate with system engineers, manufacturing and testing teams, and program management. The role involves managing technical aspects to meet mission needs, gaining experience in all phases of spacecraft programs. Key Responsibilities: • Lead all payload systems engineering aspects • Apply interdisciplinary approach to lifecycle-balanced solutions • Develop integrated payload system designs • Coordinate with spacecraft engineering teams • Manage requirements, risks, and technology readiness • Participate in software integration and testing • Ensure high-quality operational products • Analyze technical data and optimize payload systems • Resolve cross-functional technical issues

Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, physical sciences, or computer science • 10+ years of relevant aerospace industry experience • Excellent leadership and communication skills • Experience with payload systems engineering principles • Knowledge of EO sensor performance and modeling • Experience with system budgets, requirements analysis, and verification processes • Payload & satellite integration, test, and on-orbit operations experience

Preferred Skills: • Graduate Degree in relevant field • 15+ years in spacecraft payload systems engineering • Full payload life-cycle experience • Optical hardware expertise (EO/IR payloads, optical communications, etc.) • Experience with optical data processing • Proficiency in analysis tools (Matlab/Simulink, Python, STK) • Technical leadership experience
